While war rages in the Middle East, the U.S. House is at a virtual standstill as the Republican conference works to elect a new speaker.

I think it would be really funny if this caused a mini civil war within the Republican Party, eventually splitting it up into smaller sub-parties.
And if that's what it takes to break up the party duopoly, then even better...

Though, this could also easily lead to more shutdowns if we end up causing their votes to diversify too much.

You know, that's not as far-fetched as it sounds! It's like the **** Girls breaking up - everyone thought they were inseparable, and then Geri Halliwell said "peace out," and we ended up with a solo career and four different flavors of **** Could you imagine that in politics? We'd have sub-parties like the Fiscal Conservatives, Tea Party Loyalists, Libertarian Leaning, and Socially Moderate Republicans.
House Republicans are in disarray, this rift over the speaker position will lead to a split amongst their voter base
@9G776T8Republican8mos8MO
I think they should stop thinking about their own agendas. Then maybe it will be an easier decision
@9G4525L8mos8MO
From what I know the speaker of the house has a very important duty to fulfill in the government
@9G3LY858mos8MO
It is the most urgent thing we need to get done within our country. We can not declare war or help Israel right now.
@9G3LG8R8mos8MO
Republicans and Democrats need to work together to stop a government shutdown
@9G3K9KS8mos8MO
We need a Speaker of the House as soon as possible although that doesn't mean pick one carelessly
@9G3K6X58mos8MO
I think it was wrong how McCarthy went behind his parties back.
@9G3JZKB8mos8MO
Saying if people don't like you, then you can vote you out was a bad idea.
