Can you envision a society where jobs are assigned based on need rather than personal choice or passion?

I think that jobs should be chosen based on passion but I understand that there may be times that jobs have to be assigned based on needs.

Probably can however most people probably won't be a passionate about their jobs unless they're are passionate about their country rather than job

Kinda, I could see a world maybe based more on that, however I do not agree with it, nor do I agree with the idea of Marxism
