Half of Americans — including 42% of Democrats — say they'd support mass deportations of undocumented immigrants, according to a new Axios Vibes survey by The Harris Poll.
30% of Democrats — as well as 46% of Republicans — now say they'd end birthright citizenship, something guaranteed under the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.
Americans are open to former President Trump's harshest immigration plans, spurred on by a record surge of illegal border crossings and a relentless messaging war waged by Republicans.
President Biden is keenly aware the crisis threatens his re-election. He's sought to flip the script by accusing Trump of sabotaging Congress' most conservative bipartisan immigration bill in decades.
But when it comes to blame, Biden so far has failed to shift the narrative: 32% of respondents say his administration is "most responsible" for the crisis, outranking any other political or structural factor.
Data also shows that undocumented immigrants have lower homicide conviction rates than the general public.
What wrong with GEN Z and Millenials? Illegal immigration is the biggest threat to the young generations! They will be the ones suffering the consequences for decades.
@KeenEqu4lityDemocrat3wks3W
Because it makes sense.
Nobody wants millions of undocumented migrants with no background checks, especially legal migrants, Latinos and Blacks.
They are the ones most affected when the illegals drive down wages and use up what little social provision is available.
Some states will deport all illegal aliens in their states with their law enforcement and their national guard, Congress should help the states that want to protect their citizens from criminals and terrorists since the federal government has failed to do their sworn duty.
A Harris Poll? You teamed up with Mark Penn for this ridiculousness? America is better than what is portrayed in this poll and I have no doubt a better firm would have elucidated different and more accurate results. Congrats on your clickbait.
8 and 1/2 million people have crossed the border since Joe Biden took office, we have States many of them that don't even have a million people, this ain't going to work y'all,
@LeopardGaryConstitution3wks3W
Yep. That's how much people HATE mass immigration: they're open to Trump again.
Liberals really know how to mess this issue up. It's basically the only reason the far right has returned to European politics, too.
@PenguinRalphDemocrat3wks3W
You mean, open to trump lies
Advocating for a policy you happen to disagree with doesn't make it a "lie" – it makes it something you disagree with. So drop the logical fallacies and tell me why exactly you want to continue to allow our country to be invaded by criminal aliens. Can you do that for me?
@DearL0bby1stRepublican3wks3W
The lie was this Administration pretending there wasn't a problem for 3 and half years.
@ThrillingHousePatriot3wks3W
If you aren’t an American or a legal immigrant, we can’t afford to have you here
It’s just math, it’s gotten so bad our inner city inhabitants are completely screwed
