Yes, they should be detained so that they may be deported by the state. The federal government has already demonstrated a lifetime ineptitude with regard to immigration policy.

 @NMWQYQ z Colorado odebrano…3lata3Y

Obey current law and then send "bill" for deportation and room and board while in U.S. custody to the country where they came from .. and expect payment.

 @NKNYKQ z Kansas odebrano…3lata3Y

Those who come here from any other country and willing to become US citizens, learn English and follow our laws are welcome. If not and you break laws...you have to go back.

 @MJ87BP z Washington odebrano…3lata3Y

The whole approach to immigration needs to be reformed -- made simpler, easier for skilled workers or just non-criminal people to legally immigrate.

Yes, illegal aliens should be detained and returned to their home country without any delay, no court hearing, none of that stuff that delays the return to home country. Right now an illegal & US ICE are playing a cat and mouse game. The illegal has to be caught 30 times before he/she is deported. That is ridiculous. After all, I can't sneak across the Mexican border or I will go to jail. Same with any other country. We are the only goofballs that let them stay and stay and stay and wring our hands about what to do about them. Every day criminals and pedophiles cross our border to do harm to our citizens.

 @MDM4KW z Indiana odebrano…3lata3Y

They should be detained and have a background check run on them to determine if deportation is necessary. Illegal immigrants should be given a two year period to register with their local police department to receive a "registered" illegal immigrant status. If the immigrant refuses to register, then they risk immediate deportation. This could also get them into a citizenship program. (Personally, I think we should deport some lazy a$$ Americans to other countries and bring in hard working immigrants)

 @MBDPXD z Washington odebrano…4 lata4Y

Law enforcement is not the issue. The US has laws that govern how illegal immigrants are treated. Congress has the power to change those laws as it sees fit. This is not about how law enforcement behaves. This is about having a nation of laws and about having a functioning legislature that moderates those laws as time and circumstances change. But once more, on difficult, emotionally charged issues, congress finds it easier to pass the buck.

 @MB9PMJ z Kansas odebrano…3lata3Y

This is a federal issue and takes state and local law enforcement away from their legitimate duties. They should detain only those that would have been detained regardless of immigration status

 @M9T88P z Texas odebrano…3lata3Y

Violent criminals from other countries should be deported, if they commit a violent crime here and they are here illegally, then our justice system should take care of it.

 @M2RBS3 z Arizona odebrano…3lata3Y

Isn't being here illegally already a crime? That being said human beings have a right to work and a right to go over they can best provide for the family. But if they choose to commit crimes, any type of crime, then yes, they should be deported.

 @LTY854 z Arizona odebrano…3lata3Y

Yes, all illegal immigrants should be turned over to federal authorities and deported. This is America, (a different country to where they come from) and they are here "illegaly". America is a Sovereign State, NOT a World Charity Destination, or an Intercontinental Help Clinic. We have enough of our OWN problem here to deal with. As sson as the rest of the world realizes that we are NOT a doormat, only THEN will they start immigrating here LEGALLY.

 @LNZS5T z Maine odebrano…3lata3Y

Yes, but not necessarily automatic deportation. Again if they can show potential to contribute to our society, let them work toward that goal.

 @LNDMRH z Texas odebrano…3lata3Y

The US should create work visas that uphold their human rights and give them access to health care, legal representation and american freedoms so long as they are registered and pay taxes. I severly condemn american companies taking advantage of undocumented workers that force americans out of good paying jobs.

 @LMDXXT z Arizona odebrano…3lata3Y

Yes, they are ILLEGAL. This is their main crime. However, attaining citizenship should be more accessible to non-violent, non-affluent immigrants

 @LMBP44 z Washington odebrano…3lata3Y

I do not believe illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay but if they have children, and are non-violent, I believe they should be on probation and apply for citizenship within a certain time period so they aren't deported away from their kids

 @LKXXWS z Kansas odebrano…3lata3Y

Yes, it is because they illegal. When you have a word like "illegal" nothing they do is legitimate. There needs to be reform in the immigration system to fix this issue, not making it ok for people to break the law.

 @LDYFJN z New York odebrano…3lata3Y

Illegal immigrants that commit crimes, any crime, should be deported. But not all illegal immigrants commit crimes, and not all illegal immigrants should be deported.

 @LCBVT5 z New York odebrano…3lata3Y

 @L8CJ93 z Florida odebrano…3lata3Y

Yes if this is the law of the land, however I don't think minor offenses should be a reason for deportation so I'd support a change of the law

 @KT9YDF z New York odebrano…4 lata4Y

 @KQPGHR z Kentucky odebrano…3lata3Y

Yes, all illegal immigrants should be turned over to the authorities so we can ensure that they become documented and are legal citizens and can pay taxes.

 @KQDYPB z New York odebrano…3lata3Y

Yes, so that they can be thoroughly checked and cleared by federal authorities for outstanding warrants. If the crime is serious, deport them.

 @KQ2NRS z Florida odebrano…3lata3Y

 @KNJZQN z Kansas odebrano…3lata3Y

If the illegal immigrant committed a minor offense, they should be enrolled into the "system" for documentation and screening so visas and tax-paying compliance processes can begin. If they are violent or major offenders, process them for deportation.

 @KNF6X9 z Washington odebrano…3lata3Y

I believe that to allow illegal immigrants forces a great burden on our financial welfare and erode communities in many cases. I think that if they are caught in our country, they should either be deported or be fined and go through the process of gaining residency with the same standards that are expected from everyone else. In other words, if they broke the law and cheated their way in to the country, they should have to make it up to the country somehow-prove themselves worthy of being citizens by hard work and service to their new community.

 @KC24NS z Utah odebrano…3lata3Y

Yes, but each case needs to be looked at individually and the courts should make the decision as to their deportation.

 @JLCNBC z Kansas odebrano…3lata3Y

Yes, all illegal immigrants should be turned over to the federal authorities and deported, they are ILLEGAL immigrants.

 @J7NL6Z z Virginia odebrano…3lata3Y

Yes, all illegal immigrants should be turned over to federal authorities for determination of meeting amnesty criteria

 @J6MFZ4 z Florida odebrano…3lata3Y

Should be turned over but looked at to see if they can offer something to our community. Multiple offenders should face serious penalties.

 @J66ZXL z Florida odebrano…3lata3Y

 @HZM37S z Utah odebrano…3lata3Y

If all immigrants were made citizens any crimes committed would be handled by the justice system, as they should be.
